I want to make sure I understand this. You normally go through three to four months of headaches each fall, at least for the last several years. This year, two and a half weeks into your cycle, you took a single, sub-hallucinogenic dose of mushrooms and haven't had a single headache since.
I can see why you now believe this therapy has "some merit"!
Some questions:
Was the mushroom psilocybe cubensis or Liberty Cap, or some other species?
Did you simply swallow the mushrooms or did you brew up a tea?
How many headaches per day were you experiencing before taking the mushrooms?
When you say that you still feel that a CH might be coming on from time to time, is this feeling strong enough to be categorized as a "shadow" headache, or is it more like associated precursor warning signs?
Do you have some reserve mushrooms stored away in case these warning signs become full-blown headaches again?
If they did return, would you feel confident in taking a second, perhaps higher, dose of mushrooms in order to complete the treatment?
You say that you felt almost no effect from the mushrooms, things just seemed a little "brighter". No other effects at all? No nausea, no feelings of apprehension, no mild "buzz" sort of like drinking a couple of beers?
Sorry to be so curious, but we still have relatively few reports from people who have tried the mushrooms, and the more complete the data is that we have to work with, the easier it is for the more cautious members of our family to make their own decision as to whether to try it themselves.
Some of us are also trying to pull enough data together to interest the powers-that-be in the medical community, and as far as THEY are concerned, there is no such thing as "too much data".
If the headaches do return, and if you do decide to try a second dose, please update us.
Thanks a million for your post, Mitch, and congratulations to you!
