Good morning, good afternoon and good evening. My name is Dave and I have had chronic cluster headaches for 17+ years. I don't need CH, but sometimes you get what you don't need.
On January 1, 2001 I will become the new President of OUCH. I know, I know, I know - I didn't vote for me, either. :-)
This is what OUCH is and will be and hopes to be and will always be and on and on and on:
"Power In Numbers."
OUCH doesn't need a President, because we all know that Presidents don't really run anything or do anything or lead anything.
They simply try to set an example.
Here is my example:
I promise to never, ever wallow in self-pity. I promise to never ask what OUCH can do for me, but rather, I promise to do all I can for OUCH. I promise to never, ever quit. I promise to answer any and all questions that are directed to me. I promise to always be a member of OUCH. I promise to continue E-mailing and communicating with Dr. Goadsby. I promise to do everything in my power to spread education and awareness about CH. I promise to complete (all by myself, if necessary) the next OUCH Newsletter. I promise to never, ever ask for a penny or a dime or even a quarter for any and all of my work. I promise to always be able to take a punch and to never, ever pull any punches. My motto has always been, "Faith and hope and charity is for the birds, and strength and courage and honor is for real men."
If there is anything else you would like me to promise - I probably will promise it and live up to it, because I believe in OUCH.
One last thing:
Get over yourselves and join OUCH.
OUCH only has strength and courage and honor and power in numbers. OUCH is not and will never be about quitters and self-pity.
