For 30 years all I could do was sit in a chair with my head hanging down, eye tearing, nose running, holding an ice bag on the left side of my face until it got too painful to touch, then the ice bag moved to the back of my neck. This last cluster I tried the exercise thing. I've thought about it before but never had the fortitude to try it. When I found this site, there was an entry in the guestbook from a guy in his 60's. Said 30 years ago he got a CH, ran up the hill behind his house and the HA went away. Been running that hill for 30 years now. Inspired me to try it. I did the exercise (squats in my case) at the first sign of the HA. Usually when the pain was around 2 or 3. Only took about one minute for me to run out of gas, I'm 48 y/o. After that I'd sit in that chair with the bag on the back of the neck. The HA would be gone usually within 5 minutes. Needed to focus on my breathing and do the squats until I was really winded, but it worked.
You can probably tell that after 30 years of these monsters, I'm really excited to have found something that worked. I've spent too much of my life sitting in that chair with my family tiptoeing around the house because "Daddy has a headache". I'm ready for the next cluster. I've got the bastards number now.
