When it works - it's great! I have tried the nasal spray three times (doctor's samples) and it worked twice - - within 5 or 10 minutes the pain was totally GONE.
Given the success of that, for aborting an attack, I am now using a "quick-dissolving" pill called Maxalt-MLT (rizatriptan benzoate) that goes on the tongue at the onset of a CH... and it too, works about 2 out of 3 times very, very well. (I should point out that I am taking 50mg/daily of beta-blocker and 375mg/daily of Depakote to try to keep 'em from coming.)
There is DEFINATELY a rebound headache when you use Imitrex daily - for me anyway.
I'm in the final week(s?) of my cluster... after 4 pain-free years.
