Hello everyone. I was diagnosed a few years ago with cluster headaches. I was supposed to be continuing in the follow-up with a neurologist when my episode ended. Of course being the naive person I was, I thought my problems were gone so I didn't follow through in the "medical efforts" to relieve my pain. Well, needless to say they are back now, in full force, and I'm in desperate need of help. I am now living in Atlanta, Georgia and need to see a doctor. I don't want one of those that think surely we must be overexaggerating our pain or think that we are "making it all up". I have tried many medications, including imitrex, zomig, and midrin. I am now on a narcotic of some type, called Stadol NS, and the side-effects are killing me! I would love to find a doctor that believes in really finding a cause and the very best treatment, instead of one that merely wants to keep me doped up and numb to the pain (though sometimes it really helps!!). Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? Please help!
Also, does anyone know of any ongoing clinical studies concerning CH? I would really like to participate in a study if needed. I am a "sleep only" sufferer, I have never had one while awake! I am also a female sufferer and I know there are more and more of us being diagnosed. I would love any info on the newest clinical tests and results (I am a scientist myself).
Thanks!
Andrea
