HMO's are the Tool of the Devil - almost harder to deal with than CH :) but they can be beaten. I am living proof. Do your homework. Research as much as you can, especially regarding your HMO's policy on Medically Necessary Treatment, as well as your Dr's authority within the plan. Then file a grievance. And don't give up. Appeal their decisions. Bring in as much literature as you can. Fight until you run out of options.
If that doesn't work, wait until you've got a real good CH working, and head into their headquarters to have a chat with a representative. Bang your head on his desk a little. That seems to get therir attention. Good Luck, Dan
