I've been on topamax for over a year and after being BAD chronic forever, I've been virtually pain free since going on the Topamax with only occassional break-thrus. I've actually got a life again. I'm on between 200 and 400mg per day (my neuro lets me regulate the dosage depending on the time of year and the number of break--thrus at the time). Some months I can get by on lower dosages, but if the break-thrus start coming more often I have to gradually up the dosage.
I think of topamax as my "wonder drug" since I've been on everything and I do mean EVERYTHING even had a radical surgery and NOTHING has ever worked until the topamax.
But ALAS - it doesn't work for everyone just like everything else. and I still keep the Ercaf handy just in case. Maybe someday.......
