I have very good success with verapamil. I take 320 mg during remission, and 480 mg
during a bout. Since my current cycle started 3 week ago I didn't have a single
full blast attack ! Although I wake up every 60 to 90 min with the first signs of an attack
I can quench it within 5 to 10 min with O2.

PS: Today I finally got hold of a decent O2 mask, not one of those with the holes
beside the intake that serve as an injector pump for air! It is made by 'Baxter Healthcare
Corporation' and is called 'Airlife Adult Oxygen Mask' (Cat. No. 001201). Try to get one.
