with Elavil. Started it at the first sniff of this past cycle. Had to continually increase dosage when they would break through though. However, I think this worked so well for me because I am strictly a 2am headbanger, very rarely get attacked during the day. The Elavil prevents REM sleep which is when my attacks would come, when they did break through this cycle it wasn't until about 7am and they were easily managed with o2. I also was on Flonase (a corticosteriod nasal spray) which I used upon waking in the morning, don't know if this helped or not but it has very little side effects unlike Prednisone (corticosteroid). I think the key is starting a preventative (whichever one) immediately upon starting a cycle or as soon as you feel a cycle may be starting. Hope this helps, feel free to mail me if you like.
