Well...I hate to be cynical, but because money is the driving force for the drug companies, and clusters have a relatively low occurrence, research for clusters is probably not too likely. The profit margin would not be there for the drug companies. But--if there were government subsidies, perhaps the drug companies would do the research.
Also, the other burning issue, in my opinion, is the high cost of some of the drugs, in particular, Imitrex, and the drugs used for AIDS patients (the Protease inhibitors). Again, I think that direct appeals to the drug companies are not too likely to work. A more effective plan might be to write our representatives to enact legislation to control the cost.
