My husband is one who would prefer to be alone but I always stay within earshot because there are times when he does need me there. We have to let them guide us because everyone is different when it comes to dealing with these monsters. Some want ice, some want heat, some pace, some rock, some bang their heads while others work desperately to try to stay calm.
And good for you for educating your kids about CH. Maybe they will grow up with a clear understanding and pass it on to 'laypeople'.
