I've recently tried Depakote with the cluster that I was in. As we all know, what seems to work for one person, doesn't seem to work for the next so my comments are strictly my experience with Depakote.
First, 1000mg per day did NOTHING for my headaches. Second, the side effects of the medication made me and INCREDIBLE ,(please pardon my language here), asshole! I didn't realize it at first but Depakote made me very tired, edgy, and tempermental. Just a complete jerk.
After taking 1000mg a day for just over 2 weeks with no effect on the h/a's, I talked my doc into letting me stop taking it. The effect that it had on my 'moods' had everyone that I came in contact with on a daily basis ready to ring my neck! Within 2 days after stopping the Depakote, I was again, back to my regular 'ol self. It was incredible! I'll NEVER take that stuff again.
