I heard about this Candida theory over two years ago when I was going through a really bad CH bout. It souded a complete load of B*****ks to me - so I tried it. £12 for one very expensively wrapped Diflucan tablet. Result? The headaches were gone within a week.
Next time the attacks returned there was no stopping me. Straight down to Boots the Chemist, 'Can I have one Diflucan tablet please?'
'Certainly', replied the assistant, 'this is for the treatment of vaginal thrush is it?' Bugger! In my haste to get cured I'd completely forgotten what this drug is normally used for. Now I did consider at this point explaining that I was carrying out groundbreaking medical research into the theorey linking cluster headaches with candida but I knew she would never have heard of cluster headaches and to be perfectly honest I hadn't the first idea about the candida theory. 'Er, er, yes' I replied, 'that's right'. I paid my money and turned to go. The assistant called to me 'One thing I should have mentioned Sir, this pill must not be taken within six months of taking the last one.' 'Oh that's OK' I replied 'my last bout was nearly a year ago now.'
Anyway I took it. Result. No effect whatsoever.
Next bout of attacks. Another Diflucan. No effect.
Its amazing what you'll try when your desperate isn't it.
You ask the question Flash 'Does treating the Candida sort out the problem with the hypothalmus?' Probably not. My Hypothalmus is obviously still completely buggered but I think you'll find I'm completely clear of vaginal thrush!
