I was reading the thread below about progress report and
your discussion (an interesting one) about the mind and
the hypothalamus.
The two of you can't disagree when you are both saying
the same thing. You are just speaking at different levels.
Pinky, you are talking at the molecular level. Q, you
are talking at the behavioral level. Now, both of you,
think of it this way....cause and effect...cause and effect.
Behaviors, personalities, the subconscious/conscious mind
all have a root. Such root is molecular in nature. I am
atheist, thus I do not believe in "the spirit". Research has
shown that all our brain functions are molecularly derived, as
in receptor/molecule. the differences lay in which molecule
attaches to what receptor to elicit a behavioral pattern. Also,
which neuronal patterns are frequented by impulses to elicit
behavioral and mentally-derived processes results. The
mind, wheter conscious or sub-conscious will always work based
on chemistry, receptors and electrical impulses. There is no
way around it, at least that science is aware of at this time.
