get a pet, pet's give unconditional love, and don't talk back, they're like warmth for the soul.
try a hobby, something that takes your mind off your work (Sonya's chickens are a great example)
read books, get lost in someone else's life, adventure and love in reading stories
get out of the house (if you can), go somewhere with lots of people, or go for a long drive, look at the scenery, go shopping (one of MY favorites)
color, buy a box of crayons and coloring book, no one really needs to know it's for yourself! It's theraputic, and very calming
rent comedy movies, watch Saturday Night Live, or if you have a dish, watch Comedy Central, laugh at peoples comic satire, takes your mind off your own problems, gives you a break in your life (The Three Stooges are classic!)
eat, caffeine and carbohydrates alter brain chemisty, try eating foods with hot chili peppers, Mexican, or Chinese food
These are things that I myself, have used to help me cope with my depression. Hopefully, they can help you too.
