I've read that there is a genetic link with cluster
headache. What I read is that is that if one parent
had migraine OR cluster, you're genetically
predisposed to have one or the other. In the
case of my family, my grandmother apparently had
migraine. (She was from the "Old country" and didn't
say so, but my mother remembers her disappearing
into another room with bad headaches.) My mother
had migraines. Two nieces (my mother's brother's
daughters) have migraines, my brother had
migraines, and I have clusters (guess I'm the
lucky one). So, in our family, there's definitely
something genetic going on.
