I used narcotics about 6 years ago, when they thought I had migraines. They put me right out of it, and they didn't take effect before the CH was gone. What they did was leave me in a state of confusion for the next 12 hours. I once went to a store to buy yarn for a sweater, loo9ked right at thte pattern directions, and came home with exactly half of the yarn I needed. Didn't realize it until I was half-way through the sweater, then they didn't have the same dye lot for the rest of the sweater. That was when I decided I couldn't do much on narcotics.
Next time I got a CH cycle, I just stuck with a form of my own "biofeedback" since I still didn't know what they were.... just kind of a total relaxation, from the top of my head to the tips of my extremeties... it's amazing what you can do when you think you're on your own with the pain -- years before I found this webiste --and now the only thing I use is 800mg Ibuprofen, the occasional head in the freezer, walk up the hill, and blow dryer. We all do it our own way. We're always trying to look for something better. But I don't think narcotics are the answer for 2 reasons -- one, they don't work fast enough. the ch is gonepretty much before they take effect, and the after-effect lasts much too long.. and two - when the doctor decides you've had enough, you might not be over your cycle, and then you're in for withdrawals on top of your ch cycle.
So try to stay wawy from them if you can...
