The approach is to "desensitize" your body to histamine by giving you 21 bags of histamine through an IV. It was explained to me that histamine is what your body produces in response to allergens causing watering eyes, running nose, etc. For whatever reason, clusterheads are extremely sensitive to this release of histamine, thus causing clusters.
Also included in the treatment is a biofeedback program, diet classes, relaxation classes, psychiatric sessions, etc.
