For what it's worth - It took me 15 years and 17 doctors before I was
finally diagnosed right. And since then I've seen about 5 more. One
Neurosurgeon did what he could and got me on the right meds., another
Neurologist knew what I had but wanted me off all pain meds., and the
only DR. that has really tried to help treat the whole person so to
speak, is in general practice. To me most of the doctors didn't belive
the level of pain you were experiencing, or would treat me for whatever
specialty they were trained in, or would shove me off to some other
other "specialist". If I would ask a doctor if they they were familiar
with CH, it wasn't unusual for them to say, "I've heard of them".
I always thought it would be nice to be able to point a finger at someone
and they would have a few hours of cluster pain. Not for life, but just
for awhile. Then I think you would see new wonder drugs and compassion and
understanding for CH sufferers.
Yes, I definately believe only 10 doctors on the list!
Sorry but I have been wanting to say that to somebody for a long time.
