It's nice to hear that some of us are still able to function. It makes me happy to know that you are still out there and keeping life ticking over.
DOn't worry about your grandkids Mum. It's her loss, they are just VERY lucky to have you on their side. We were going to adopt a few years back (before I found out the docs had made a mistake and I was pregnant with Beth), the things those poor kids go through is TERRIBLE. They get passed from pillar to post and back again, and that's before they even get to the foster carers.
If their Mum doesn't want them, then she will realise, too late, that she is missing the best thing about life. Bethany has kept me going on more than one occasion. I once stood in the kitchen with a carving knife in the sink and I was about to cut my wrists (the seriously want to die way too), Beth wanted to be picked up and I looked at her and realised that I loved her SOOOOOOOOOO much that I couldn't do it. That was the first time, there have been others and I thank her for being my angel. She is truly a gift from God and I thank Him every day for her. Even when she is driving me mad and playing up!
You are seeing how special they are, if she misses that then it is TRULY her loss. You have done ALL you can, you should not recriminate yourself. SHE has chosen to take the path she has. YOU are a good man and a good friend. I value you and hope you will be the person you are to all of us for a long time to come.
