My doctor prescribed Zomig two weeks ago and I talked him into prescribing oxygen as well. The first week was spent with me trying to find the proper combination and here's what ended up working best for me (I was by this time midway through the third week of this current cluster period, waking up four or five times each night with level 8 - 10 pain, taking Cafergot & had been to the e.r. once where a knowledgeable doc immediately put me on 100% oxygen): At the first sign of headache pain, usually about an hour after falling asleep, I take the Zomig and then immediately start the oxygen (8 liters per whatever). After 15 to 20 minutes I'm absolutely pain-free. If I do awaken again during the night it generally takes nothing more than a cool cloth and, sometimes, 10 minutes of oxygen to put me back to sleep. The first week was a little rough because the Zomig would cause me to wake up in the morning feeling incredibly dizzy but I've adjusted and no longer experience that sensation. SPECIAL NOTE: READ THE DRUG INTERACTION WARNINGS THAT COME WITH THE ZOMIG VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE TAKING IT! Also, the oxygen is not the hazard others might have you believe. There is NO danger of explosion unless you put it in an open flame or get oil on the tank. I wouldn't imagine there's much chance of you doing that, is there?
