I guess I am lucky in one sense, in that when I first started getting the ch's I was able to tell my doctor exactly what I was suffering from. I watched my father suffer from them for 20 years. During my last cycle when Imitrex was not working and I couldn't get any I talked to my family doctor. He is a young Dr. who was willing to go the extra yard for me and do some research. He came up with amitriptyline as an alternative. It was cheap readily available and has worked pretty well for me. My point is to offer 2 suggestions: 1) amitriptyline as a possible suggestion to your Dr.. 2) I prefer younger Dr.'s who are still willing to listen to their patients and learn from them. It has been my experience that sometimes youthful exuberance can win over old school ignorance.
I am in the second week of my cycle that comes every 2 years. I do feel your pain and will keep you in my prayers. Good Luck
