"If you were a CH sufferer and stumbled onto the OUCH site, what would you hope to find there? What would you hope the organization would be able to do to help you?"
Lots of posts in this webboard ask for recomendations for MD's in different geographical areas. I advocated posting lists of MD's, their identifiers (phone mumber, hospital affiliation, etc.), and the patients' opinions about them (are they caring, knowledgeable, cooperative, compassionate, would you send your mother to them, etc.).
Now that even Congress and the government are going to give public access to databases containing legal information about MD's (lawsuits, their outcomes, and disciplinary meassures taken), I can't see why we should be lagging with a detailed list.
It has been recently argued that disciplinary meassures aren't indicative of the quality of medical care typical of a disciplined MD or facility, to which I answer that I would like the public to be the judge of that; just make the data public (After all, I'm sure that Dr. Josef Mengele and many of his colleagues could provide competent medical care, but since I know of their Nazi record, I wouldn't send my mother to somebody like him, specially since she survived three Nazi camps).
