Dear Jackie:
I've been taking 360 mg. of verapamil for the past 17-18 years. I use this in combination with wigraine tablets (which is caffine tablet). I take one verapamil and one wigraine three times a day. I probably drink 4 cups of coffee a day and the rest of my day I spend drinking iced tea. I recently went for a full series of blood tests worring what the verapamil was going to do to my liver. My blood came out fine, liver's in god shape. Right afterwards I went for a stress test, and that came out good too, so I guess verapamil is a long term drug. In conjunction with the two I take two 500 mg. aspirins with the each dose. During a case of the flu in December the headaches came on like storm troopers. They would go from super intense for maybe two hours three to four times a day. Nothing would break them. I went to a sinus doctor that I visit periodically and asked him to scope out my nose and throat. The scope is inserted in through the nostril on the affected side and comes out through the little flap in your throat in the roof of your mouth. As soon as this was done I could feel the pressure relieving. I was put on Biaxin, an antibotic for two weeks and had been almost headache free since. If you visit a sinus doctor, ask him to scope out your nose and throat....see if it helps.
