To the best of my knowledge, and experience, your neurologist is correct. One of the most common problems with using verapamil is underdosing. Unfortunately, not all people can tolerate the higher doses, as it does lower your blood pressure and cause constipation.
But if the lower doses work, great. If not, talk with your doctor about increasing the dose before giving up on the medication
