The injections, when I can get them, are the most effective stoppers I've used -- four to five minutes. It's like magic. But the doctor and the package warn against using any form of Imitrex more than three times per week. When all the other preventatives fail -- Lithium, Valium, O2, etc. -- and you are getting attacks daily, how can you resist using the fourth or fifth or even sixth Imitrex injection/pill/inhaler? I no longer have the stamina or courage to endure two hours of twitching in pain while a headache runs its course.
Five mg of Valium once brought almost instant relief, but this time around it is almost worthless. Doctor substituted Ativan/Lorazepam, but it is a bust. It'll put you to sleep while leaving the headache in place. Bad solution.
Any suggestions?
