James,
Read previous posts. There are a couple here that describe the numbness and how they dealt with it. I'm having the procedure on the 18th and I think it's worth the risks and the numbness. Anything to get rid of this damn pain.
Once they "zap" those little nerve endings, it's a permanent thing. There are other procedures using (I think) glycol that is only temporary (year or so).
My neurosurgeon said it takes a little "reprograming" to get used to the numbness, but most people do real quick and after a while it's just "normal". (ie., putting drops in your eyes, reg. eye checkups, using a napkin more frequently than normal, checking your face in the mirror, putting on makeup by sight rather than "feel", etc.)
If I had my "druthers" we'd wave a magic wand and just quit having these things, but in leiu of that, I'll take the surgery and numbness versus this pain any day.
I did get your e-mail, but can't get an answer back because part of the address isn't there. I'm trying.
Hugs BD
