Just wanted to introduce myself, and run a little history
by y'all. I'm 42yo male with history of clusters for
the last eight years. In addition I have since age 10
had classic migraine. Sucks, I'll have several days of
typical cluster type attacks 30 min to 2hr, middle of the
night wake up calls etc. Then the icing on the cake is
the transformation to 1-2 day constant migraine, not
as intense as the cluster attacks but bad enough. I
currently use that old sublingual ergot to kill a short
term HA and use bellphenergot (phenobarbitol, ergot,
belladonna alkyloids) to prevent the transformation
to classic migraine. As far as preventatives go I've
tried inderal, verelan, dilantin, amytriptylene, and prozac, all
with no lasting effect. The verelan caused the ergot
to be useless which really was a drag. Imitrex was
useless for me in both pill 25-50 mg and injectable
forms. Yoga has offered a tremendous improvement in
awareness of impending doom as well as overall control
of bodily reactions to the stress and symptoms of an
attack. I've never tried the stadol spray or the new
zomig but since the ergot is becoming less effective
I will probably try these soon.
Rebound? Yep been there done that. Self medicating with
OTCs put me there after my nuero retired and I decided
to "dry out" and get a real feel for just where I was.
Thanks DJ for the forum, I've got some URLs I'll send
along soon.
