I have noticed that in my case I can count on a
full blown episode subsequent to mayor stress periods.
I view it as a catecholamine hangover.
This has forced me, finally, to look at my stress
levels and engage in stress management techniques
that will diminish the effect of such. As I get
older, I am able to cope better with stress. It
seems that the more one has seen, the less impressed
one becomes. Recognizing such stress and its possible
connection to CH is key to better management of CH.
It, stress, is only one of the many factors, but an important one.
Clearly, the way stress affects our mood has an
inpact in our syndrome. Moods are apparently
dependent on serotonin among other things. Sertonin
has been linked to CH. I just wish there was a
serotonin scavanger drug that would spare us of stress
and otnher aspects of CH. In the meanwhile,
put forth your best face for the worst storms
and weather them with the calm of an old, experienced
sailor.
