Dear Carolyn,
I'm so sorry that you have been suffering so. I hope you are doing a little better by now and get a reprieve. My cluster attacks occur morning, noon and night. They don't have a preference. They usually go on for about three to four days before I get any kind of a breather. I am concerned for you however, and hope that having just got these headaches at the age of 53, you received proper evaluation and testing. Did you see a neurologist or general practitioner? I'm certainly not medically well versed, and am aware that both migraines and clusters affect those who suffer in many different ways. Perhaps someone else here will help, but I'm not sure about the pain in the crown of your head as you described. I've heard others describe the pain as being focused in the temple. Mine are focused in the eyeball. I'm not sure I've heard anyone here mention the pain as being focused in the crown of the head. Also, you did not mention if your doctor prescribed any medication. I hope that you are receiving adaquate medical care, and that things start looking up for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care,
Jackie M.
