Harley,
I know how you feel. Recently, my GP sent me to a neurologist, because she felt in over head. It didn't take me long to figure out this guy knew nothing about CH's. I explained my symptoms, (classic CH) that I have had for 18 years. He told me to stop the imitrex injections at once and when I get a headache, lay down with a cold towel in a dark room!
Obviously, I went looking for a new neurologist. I interviewed 2 before choosing the third. I did so simply based on the knowledge of CH's he showed. This Dr. discussed all the available treatment options, all of which I have previously read about. He asked all the right questions and did not order unnecessary testing. He was sympathetic and understanding. I guess my point is let the Dr. do the talking and see if you are comfortable.
Do not compromise! I can't imaginne how I could survive this cluster I am in with a cold towel. So far 43 days 6 headaches a day!
Good luck!
Joe
