YES!!! your son is not alone. My husband (28y/o( has had chronic CH since he was 19. He has went to every doctor in our area - pain clinics, neurologist ect and he has tried EVERY med for CH on the market. NOTHING helps. His symptoms are: right eye tearing and 1/2 closed, running nose, sweaty head, stabbing like a hot probe being jabbed behind his right eye and many times the veins running from his eye to the back of his neck swells up so much, I'm scared it will burst. He haseven had cryogenic injections and on his left side the doc did it right but when he injected the right side, he hit the wrong nerve and it "lit" up his entire right side of his jaw. He suffers 24/7 and I understand your pain because I feel so helpless seeing him like this. He cannot work, and stays in bed most of the time. The only "relief" he gets (where he can get out of bed) is Vicodan ES. Of course this med is a narcotic but if all else fails what can a person do. Doctors do not understand the pain (I not even sure that is even an appropriate word - because it is much more than that) CH causes. I only wish (just for a day) doctor can experience what my husband experiences EVERYDAY. They talk about "rebound" CH from the narcs but he has gone off of them and still he has them. He has even spent 1 yr in bed - in too much pain to even get a drink of h2o from the kitchen. my prayers are with you and your son.
