My son is 14 years old and I believe he may be suffering from cluster headaches. Please let me know if you who have been diagnosed agree. In October after football practice and some heavy hitting, Jordan had what we initially believed to be a seizure. He was unable to walk unassisted. In fact, he was thrashing about, crying, and holding his head. He also had trouble breathing. Obviously he was in severe pain. We took him to the ER. After medication and approximately one hour, he obtained some relief from the pain. The MRI showed nothing abnormal. Other tests confirmed no seizure. The specialist concluded that Jordan had a mild concussion and was dehydrated which combined to cause the event. However, Jordan has had three other episodes, none as severe as the first. All occurred during athletic participation. One during a football game, one during a basketball game, and the last this week during a baseball game. Although he never loses consciousness, he is unable to focus and concentrate during an episode. He becomes very upset and has trouble breathing. Frankly, these episodes are frightening. Jordan usually complains with headaches for several days following an episode. We will see the doctor this week for further evaluation. I intend to mention the possibility of cluster headaches. I would appreciate your opinions.
