I've been suffering from cluster headaches (both episodic and chronic) and classical migraines, since I was 19 yrs old. I am now 46. I have been a guinea pig for all types of treatments, both pain and preventative, in an attempt to resolve this condition or control its' frequency. There is absolutely nothing that works consistently. Most of the medications prescibed (preventative) are more dangerous than the actual headache itself. Pain killers only mask the problem, but on occassion, will break the episode. Addiction would be a concern with pain killers and eventually becoming amune to their effectiveness due to repetitive use.
