Of course! We all agree, and many of us have known for some time now, that something needs to be done -- research, awareness etc. -- and that's one of the reasons OUCH is having a convention in three weeks, and it's why I'm going to it. The fact there are only about 15 people signed-up for it is a bit surprising and, to me, discouraging, but that's just me, I guess.
Since you went out of your way to bring it up -- AIDS is about to become pandemic. It's epicenter is now in sub-Saharan Africa, but will soon be in India, and after the subcontinent, it moves toward Russia, and so on around the world. The real epidemic will reach us, here. Are you, therefore, seriously suggesting that funding for AIDS research be cut-back or stopped, now? The consequences of that boggle the mind, and could be devastating to all, I mean ALL of us. It's a hideously democratic (that's a small "d") disease, in spite of some perceptions to the contrary.
As for folks bringing things on themselves, well just take a quick look at all the already obese blobs stuffing french fries and cheeseburgers down their gullets. Should we curtail cardiac research -- I mean they KNOW what they're doing to themselves. Same thing with smokers (of which I am one)? Or maybe I misunderstood, or just didn't "get" that section of your message.
In any case, here's to the good fight against CH, and anything else that threatens our numbers, however large or small.
