I've had them hit me out of the blue like that at the office and had to:
1. buzz my boss & explain why I'm leaving,
2. buzz the girl that covered my phone in my absence,
3. walk through the office, down a flight of steps
4. walk across the parking lot
TO my truck.
I developed this "truck technique". Turn on engine & crank AC, then I put up the sunscreen on the windshield, and put the two bath towels I always carry in the truck, on the side windows for privacy. I keep a small pillow behind the seat. I sit with my back to one window and then rock till the Imitrex or Zomig kicks in. Then I will:
A: doze while sitting up.
B: drive home if able.
C: if possible, return to work.
I don't know if anything here will help you when you're away from home but that was my coping technique.
Hope you'll be in the comfort of your own home to combat future attacks.
