...after visiting Stanford's neuro department today. Was definitely impressed with the doctors I saw there. I waited for only 10-15 minutes before the docs came in to talk to me. The entire appointment (neuro exam, discussion of history and symptoms, etc.) was an hour long. Have never had a doc (let alone two) spend that much time going over anything with me. Basic diagnosis? The headaches have a lot of symptoms that are classic for clusters, but not all of the classic cluster symptoms. There is the occasional migraine thrown in there just for variety. Basically, I have clusters and migraines both, with slight variats on each, all in all a complicated case. Current course of treatment? Verapamil. I've pretty much been through the gamut of drugs for the clusters, and the migraines are easy to beat. I'm just hoping they can find something that works soon. Nine and a half months and counting--far too long.
