I started getting cluster headaches when I was 18, am 38 now. I have had cat scans, tranquilizers, and in the begininng when I thought aspirins would help, I took 50 in a day. I have never gotten used to pain, and I don't believe that you can, since it is like someone has just stuck an ice pick in the side of my head. I have been awoken from sleep with these. I have crawled on the floor and banged my head on the wall. The only good thing about these "things" is that if I'm lucky I won't have them for five years. Last time I had them was two years ago, and I feel that twinge again.
The medical community has no answers and I have spent enough money to get no help. The last time I went to a specialist and got the cat scan again, to be told that nothing is wrong with me. Then they give you the migraine medication. It is not a migraine and does not respond to those medications.
There is one thing that eases this, maybe, and that is my chiropracter. I hope it might help someone else.
