Before the day of Imitrix debut, I've taken cafergot pills, along with all kinds of narcotics doctors could think of. They did absolutely nothing for me. Then as soon as Imitrix injection became available, my neurologist switched my prescription. She told me ergotamine injection was a possibility but not as wonderous as Imitrix shots. Since Imitrix does wonders for me in minutes, I have zero desire to give Cafergot pills a try again.
I do, however, keep myself well-caffeinated with coffee throughout the day during the cycle. I'm not sure if it helps or not since I'm a coffee addict to begin with, but I don't want to take a chance even when I don't feel like having another cup.
