I'm new here ... (male, brit, 47) ... but my experiences with acupuncture may help some. I say "experiences" cos I've been to six over the years, and some have helped loads, some not at all. I gather that there are maybe three main traditions of acupuncture and they work at different levels and with different targets in mind. Three of the practitioners I have seen were on the list of a college called the School of Oriental Medicine, (East Grinstead) in the UK. Possibly they have aimed at symptomatic treatment only, but hey, that's pain relief to me. The others made no difference,(well, none that I could tell). My answer for sceptics, (and they do exist) is that the first five years of my clusters were the worst in terms of "pain depth", I mean, like "unbelievable agony", (but then I'm sure you all know all about that) until that lucky first acupuncture session. One third of the pain level was whipped right off. They have never been so bad since, (and rarely as long-lasting).
(I'm totalling 25 years of wrecked social opportunities due to the ch beast shortly, and for two months of the year I live on Cafergot.)
BTW, are there any flute, or other wind instrument players out there? I hope not ... I have this theory that me learning to play flute will help aerate my brain a little when the next session begins this autumn !!!
