I have had these headaches since I was about ten. I am now 51. For the last three years I have had no problems, I live in Missouri, and I have been taking big 100 B's and vitamin E daily and I thought that had stoped it. But I went to San Diego for a week of convention and when I came back so did the thumb in my left temple. It has been with me now 24 hours a day for nearly 4 weeks, and progresses to a full blown level 4 cluster headache, mostly at night. But, I have been taking Indomethacin for about a week now and it seems to be calming it down. I still have the thumb in my temple, but have less full blown episodes. Also, I tried Maxalt the other night for a bad one and it seemed to stop it about 45 minutes. The bad ones last about 3 hours. I even had a tooth pulled out once because a dentist told me that it was my tooth. When I am pain free, I can drink alcohol, and eat anything I want. But when it starts, I can't drink, or eat anything with sugar, on soda, no candy, no cake, no fruit juice, and I have to eat about every hour on the hour or I get a bad one. 45 minutes of dream state and I wake up with the knife in my head. Sure get sick of this, it wears me out.
Thanks for listening.
