I fought with my naive, optimistic PCP for nearly a year about clusters. Finally, I went directly to a new ER and demanded answers. I was in the middle of a level 9 attack so I was no longer very nice to anyone. I clearly explained that although I had suffered from migraines since childhood, these were NOT migraines, that they hurt like hell and I would not tolerate anything less than serious answers. This young intern came in and reconized me as a clusterhead right away and say, "Give the lady some oxygen and she'll be fine".
You know what? He was right! He even called my PCP and educated him on the whole deal. I had my own O2 tanks before the weekend and some Verapamil by the next Monday.
You're going to have to get really nasty to get relief. Are you willing to fight dirty to live free from the beast? I was and I'm FINALLY getting the help I deserve. Nobody should have to live with CH untreated--that's like being tortured. Stand up for yourself and make the medical professional take note.
