I never realized that there were so many other people out there with the same problem as me. I have had clusters since I was 17 and I am now 29. My clusters usually last atleast 3 hrs. and have been as long as 6. When I first started having theese headaches the doctors had no idea what they were then finally one doctor realized that I was having cluster headaches. I was sent through the normal series of tests MRI, EEG, CAT, ect. and put on several different medications but nothing seemed to work. Then they suggested oxygen wich is the only thing that has even touched my headaches if I start it on onset. Over the last 5 years they have been easy to handle with the headaches only lasting 15-30min and only a few a week one month a year and last year I went all year without one. But this year they have started back in full force. The first one I had was horrible because I had returned my o2 tank thinking that they were gone for good and the only defence I had was a blow dryer(the warm air helps some). So now as I sit here 11:20 p.m. recovering from a headache I now have to think about going back to the doctors to see if there is any help out there.
All I have to say is thank god for my family because without them I don't think all this suffering would be worth it.
