Hi Jackie, the first medication I was given for clusters was verapamil. After a couple of weeks, and raising the dosage , I wasn't getting much relief. My neuro. then wanted to try depakote, but told me to stay on the verapamil too. The combo didn't break the cycle, but offered enough relief to make it bearable. The next year I had to switch neuro's, the new one did not approve of this combo, and insisted on going with depakote alone. I was being awakened every time I tried to sleep. So I went to see my GP. He said he saw nothing wrong with that combo, and wrote me a script for Covera-HS , a form of verapamil I think. I took one 240mg tablet before bed, and soon was able to get some rest again.
