I was recently in the hospital for something unrelated to a cluster attack at the time. While I was being looked at I had an attack. I asked the nurse to tell the dr. I needed help for my cluster headache. She said "oh you have a bad headache? I'll see if we can get you some codeine tylenol." I told her while your at it give me some pez candy, it will help out about the same. She didn't get it. The dr. got it when I told him very descriptively, in my very descriptive four letter words how I felt.
What I really want is to make clusters as well known as migraines. I know we all want this. It's so FRUSTRATING that migraines is known as the worst pain, but not clusters. I think the reason migraines is so well known is because everyone and their dog has them. (I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that)
I was thinking about the kick ass poems and art I've noticed that comes from some of the people just here at the board. I was wondering if we collaborated our efforts and put out a book with our poems and art, we might get some more awareness. It might be a way to get our point across to people how much freakin pain we have to contend with on a daily basis. I don't know if this is something OUCH could think about, or if this could be done by some individuals. I know that right now I am fighting for my life to get through each day. I don't know how much energy I could put into it. I really think this is an idea that could make a difference.
