I've always believed in taking responsibility for my own health care, so I was thrilled to find this site a few days ago.
I was just recently diagnosed with CH after a 9 month battle with my doctor. I kept telling him these were NOT typical migraines (had migraines for 28 years), but he kept writing scripts for Imitrex and ordering shots of Demerol and Phenergan when they got bad. FINALLY an new ER doc tried treating the pain with O2 and guess what? Yep, it worked like a charm. I'm hooked up with Verapamil and O2 for starters and a great neurologist. I'll just take it one day at a time and keep the O2 close by.
Would love to hear other's experiences, especially other women. I kept being told "Women don't get clusters"...then what's this pain that feels like an ice pick shoved through my right eye that comes and goes like it has a mind of its own?
Glad to know I'm not alone.
