At that age her biggest worries should be what she'll be doing over summer vacation. At age 12 is when hormones are changing. I believe sometimes that hormones play a part in this. I had it explained to me once how the hypothalamus effects hormones. Of course i was having an attack at the time, so I don't remember much of the explanation.
This does really touch your heart to hear of someone that young with this pain. One good thing, and this may be the only good thing to find in it, is that her mom got her diagnosed. I wonder how many other kids might be out there that haven't been dignosed because their parent's haven't sought out help. All the more reason to get the word out through OUCH.
