cold air is denser, and thus has more oxygen per liter inhaled, and if you're going outside to get the cold, there is probably less co2 and co than inside
I read the same article & immediately built a rig to cool air to ice/water equilibrium (32 deg F)
did no good whatever (basically a big waterpipe run thru an ice slurry)
then tried sucking air out of the freezer with a 1/2" plastic tube, air was thus delivered about 0 deg F, directly into nostril on affected side - helped some, but never completely relieved it - mostly I think I chilled down the nasal & sinus area the air hit so much it was anesthetized - certainly didn't stop the headache
I'm in Maine, and I agree - going outside at night when it's about 10 degrees is better than staying inside, but doesn't stop the attack for me
finally, I got onto the oxygen wagon and ZOWIE
miracle time
8 liters/miute, pure flow, at earliest sign of attack - turned 'em off like a lightswitch - - dodn't stop the cluster cycle, but if the attacks don't end up hurting - who cares ?
