With my first attack I began using heat to soothe the pain. I never could stand to have a cold head so it was my impulse to try heat. A lot of people can't tolerate heat, it seems, but for me it is the only way to survive.
It is a hassle holding my hair dryer set on hot while I dance (needs a longer cord), but it has the advantage of moveability(sp) from jaw to eye to top of head to neck. And if you don't blow a fuse it stays hot as long as you need it. Breathing steam very carefully is also good for me.
Best of luck. Glad you avoided the emergency room hassle. Maybe the increased Verapamil will help also.
