I have never taken prednisone but for this cycle started April 6, I was prescribed as preventative Flonase (a corticosteriod nasal spray) prednisone is also a corticosteriod, I believe. The spray however is not systemic, ei)it doesn't cycle through your whole body causing all the nasty side effects I've read about, at least that's the way my doc explained it. I am also on amitriptylene at night. Started with 30mg, and have upped it 10mg twice and am now at 50mg. However in over almost 4 weeks now, I've had nothing heavier than a 6-7 and that was only twice. A few shadows here and there to remind me I'm still in cycle. However, I have also not touched a drop of alcohol, and have craved chocolate like crazy. I am also drinking alot of coffee. So, as you are tapering of your Pred, you might want to ask your doc for Px for Flonase as a kind of replacement? Just a thought. I'm thrilled that this is working so well for me. Good Luck. Cheers.
